Giving and taking vs gifting and receiving

Many people would look at these words and think they are talking about the same thing, but are they? 

Let’s explore further: 

A gift is something given willingly without expectation of anything in return

To give is to hand over something such as money time a possession or commitment. It often has the energy of sacrifice and expectations attached. 

A true gift is never a sacrifice. 

Nature and animals gift all the time, and we receive. The sun gifts its light and the rain gifts its water and they ask for nothing in return. This true gifting and receiving. It is a state of openness and a calm heart free of expectation.

From this state we can receive something as simple as a car park in a crowded shopping centre or find money on the footpath, or see the smile of a child that warms our heart. It makes us feel like sharing what we have and gifting things to people such as a smile, or a random act of kindness.

So what is the difference between give and take? 

To take has the energy of possession. To take something without permission, to be on the take, to take and hold something. It often has the energy of greed attached. 

So the energies are very different. 

Gifting and receiving has a flow and non ownership of things. It has a lightness of energy and it makes you feel uplifted. To truly gift and receive you are in a place of non expectation. 

To give and take is more like a business deal. The energy is of ‘I gave you this so you owe me.’ And the energy is heavier and more solid and stuck. 

Which state would you rather be in and where have you been operating from? Give and take and expectation? Are you wondering why things dont come to you easily?

Which works better for your life?

When have you been minding your own business and not expecting anything and something suddenly has come in as a great surprise? This has been because you were in the energy of receiving. Of being open and in flow. 

Gifting and receiving can apply in all areas of your life. Your work, your relationships your business and your sex life. If you are living truly from your heart and being open without judgement or control your life can transform in miraculous ways and things are easy.

So if you are feeling unhappy and stuck Mayb look at where you have been locked into the give and take energies.

The way of women

During my life I have had much opportunity to observe and interact with others both personally and in my counseling, mediating, facilitating, massaging, designing and mentoring work. 

Today I’m going to talk about women. 

What I have noticed is how much women do not support other women. How often they invalidate, demean, shame and undermine through competition and jealousy for men, career and beauty. 

Women, let’s stop this now. It’s toxic and divisive. Stop letting other women down. 

Time to look within for that which you are seeking externally- give your self the validation you seek, love your body, be authentically you and not a ‘clone’ of someone else you see in a magazine or you tube channel. There is not another single person like you. You are unique, your gifts are necessary and you are part of the web of life. You are of value because of this. 

Bringing others down to make your self feel better is never a solution for anyone. Stop trying to compete with men as well. 

You are an incredible being that can create and birth a whole new life into this planet. That’s how extra ordinary you are. Regardless of your choices, sexual preferences or anything else that is essentially you. You are amazing as the authentic you. So go digging for this. Forget everyone else and be you. Do the work you need to do to clear the hurt, the shame and the trauma from your own life. Don’t cause more of this for others. 

Be brave and face you and love you as a drop of the divine. 

The universe always loves you and love is always present.

Dear being

Hello I am your body. I’m like a pet you are responsible for looking after. Please feed me healthy food that I like, let me move the way I want to and ask me what I want.

I am the most faithful being in your life. I am always there with you and I love you so please stop imprisoning me in tight clothes and I’ll fitting shoes, feeding me things I don’t like and that make me feel sick, putting drugs in me that interfere with my operating systems, pushing me so much I end up in pain, judging and criticising me. Please stop now. 

You don’t own me.  I have my own consciousness. I am like a pet dog. I run my own ship fine without your interference. I am not your enemy So please don’t try to kill me.

We are meant to work together. Me as a mini earth and you as a mini cosmos to create the embodiment of heaven on earth. 

Please be my friend so we can work together. I plead with you. love me.

We can be so powerful as a team. You ever faithful partner

The Art of being Mindless

For a number of years I have gone through my daily life with nothing in my mind.

This is a cool way to be. I call it mindlessness. Mindlessness is not passive, but it is not doing. In mind -less-ness we are in a state of one-ness. A stated of being enlivened.

Mindlessness started for me when I was a kid, then I lost it for years as I was immersed in the adult world of having to set goals and focus and be productive and force my body and mind to do things. Whilst I could do all that with a lot of skill, it came at a cost. My body ached, my mind was exhausted I was always pushing and striving towards what I was told I had to do. Things involved struggle and efforting. I became the adult ‘doing’ not the childlike ‘being’.

Contrast that with this:

As a kid I’d sit in trees and close my eyes and connect with the tree and the birds and the sky. I’d go horse-riding through the bush and listen to the sounds of the forest. I’d go down the beach and listen to the ocean and feel the sand between my toes and become one with the sea. I felt like I could fly. I would imagine myself as a bird and o would soar above everything with an expanded view. I would leap form rock to rock down the beach like I was weightless. I would ride my bike 6 inches from the edge of the cliff without fear but with the awareness of my body in space. I never once had an ‘accident’.

Did you ever do anything like that as a child? Was your mind full of stuff? Were you sitting meditating? No, you were just being free and open and aware of your surroundings and your place as part of it. That was fun and it was easy.

When you are just being you don’t have to engage your mind. Children know how to be this, and when you are in that space you have access to everything. Information comes through, awareness is easy, your intuition is strong, you sense things and you know things. This is so much easier and faster than thinking.

The times my life was easy and flowed and was effortless were the times I was in my space of being as a child does and magic happened. I am able to be twice as productive in this state as I can work quicker with my knowing and awareness than with trying to work everything out by thinking. You can still do all the ‘adult’ things with the awareness of a child. Does that sound easier and more fun?

Your mind is an amazing faculty in which you don’t have to store anything. Yes you read that right. It isn’t actually a library like you think. It is more like a fishing net that catches what you put your attention on. If you put your attention on certain things or feelings, your mind will catch those things and your reality will be created with them. If you think, your mind will do that bidding. If you are in a state of being however, your mind then becomes the servant of your heart in contributing to you living authentically. You can ditch all the stuff you had stored in there and anything you need will naturally come through to you as its not trying to get past all the stuff in storage. You will have a knowing and be magnetised towards something you really desire from your heart, and then your mind can assist you in it actualising. Eg you really feel a strong pull to go to cuba. Then your mind helps you organise the tickets. There is no ‘should’ involved. In this way things happen easily as if by magic.

Mindlessness doesn’t come from focus. It doesn’t come from sitting cross legged gazing at your nose. Mindlessness means you don’t have to ‘do’ anything. You don’t ‘do’ mindless practice.

Mindless is not about adding. Mindlessness is about letting go of. It comes through being authentically you, following your passion, laughing, letting go of the past as something that doesn’t need to define your present or your future. It can be as easy as just saying to yourself. This is done. From this now moment I disentangle myself from the story, the labels, the projections of others, the expectations of those around me, the judgements of myself, the should and have to’s – as they aren’t yours, and the need to make goals.

Nature is mindless, doesn’t make goals. It doesn’t think. A tree doesn’t say, when I grow up im going to be a giraffe. Nature is in an infinite state of being. It doesn’t try to hold onto things that have finished their time. It lets them go, allows them to return to the oneness of everything and for the new to emerge, fresh and alive. Nature doesn’t judge itself. It accepts itself as it is and thrives without making uo stories. Nature is in a constant state of knowing. A seed knows how to grow.

So trust your self and your knowing and allow yourself to relax into that space, ease and enlivenment.

To be in mindlessness is to be aware, in your knowing and at one with all that is.

Affirmations- Tell your body how amazing it is, how beautiful, talented, handsome, extraordinary- it breathes for you, pumps blood a around itself, drives and walks at your bidding, watches sunsets for you it’s truly a miracle of awareness!

Gifts-  Give it gifts of walks in nature, sunsets, fresh whole food, lots of pure water and don’t force it to eat things it doesn’t want

Quality time-  Spend quality time with your body in meditation, self pleasure, nourishing it with creams and scented baths, being kind and generous with the time you allow for it in your life

Acts of service-  Serve your body daily by asking it what it wants to do today and doing that. Take it on holidays, rest and sleep, recharge and celebrate it’s incredible-ness

Physical touch-  Touch your body with love and kindness, move how it wants to move through exercise it would like to do without forcing it to do anything it doesn’t want to, pleasure it and care for it as you would a partner. It is a living breathing consciousness. 


Your body is here with you for life. It is a mini version of Gaia. It is its own ecosystem with minerals chemicals bacteria systems and processes that all work together in harmony. It has its own Geography of hills and valleys, flora and fauna, so when you judge and mistreat your body, you judge and mistreat your earth in the universe of you. Bless your body as your friend and lover and the miracle it is!

The Manipulation of Romance

Romance is a multi-billion dollar industry – flowers, weddings, chocolates, cards, dinners, grand expensive gestures. It keeps us externally focussed on someone else satisfying the aspects within ourselves that we have not yet developed. We yearn to merge with another which is really the yearning to fully merge and integrate with ourselves. The commercial focus on romance and expectations of what this means keeps us disempowered to focus on ourselves and our own inner happiness and love.
